The Brilliant Club is an award-winning charity that exists to widen access to highly selective universities. Through the Scholars Programme, the Brilliant Club places experienced PHD and post-doctoral researchers to deliver programmes of academic style tutorials in schools which emulate university-style learning. They are designed to stretch pupils to work at a Key Stage above their current level.
Students participate in a series of tutorials, along with a launch trip and graduation event which help to equip students with the knowledge, skills and ambition needed to make informed choices when applying to top universities, and ultimately to secure a place at a highly selective university.
Twelve of our Year 7 students participated in this programme. They were required to write a 1,500 word essay on the causes of climate change. Our students achieved outstanding results gaining eight 1st and four 2:1’s.
To celebrate this success our students will be attending a graduation ceremony at Durham University.
