On Wednesday night the PE Department invited a large number of students from across the Academy to attend our second PE Awards Evening. Building on the success of last year, the Department were delighted to invite in Justin Lockwood from Heart FM as our guest for the evening and he shared an excellent insight into his life and success with our guests. The night started with the presentation of academic, young volunteers and sports leaders awards with the first half finishing with a prize draw for an overnight stay at the salubrious Crab Manor Hotel in North Yorkshire.
Guests were invited to the atrium for refreshments whilst staff prepared for the second half of the show. Beth Hellens and Izzy Garnham kicked off proceedings with an incredible trampoline performance followed by a race against the clock to dismantle the trampoline from Mr Richards and Mr Wyllie. All performance awards were then presented in a variety of different sports culminating in the showpiece award ‘The Grace Taylor Award for Sporting Excellence’.
Last year’s winner Karl Nelson was invited back to present the prestigious award to this year’s very worthy winner Macey Bradshaw from Year 10. The show was then brought to a close with all award winners invited back to the stage for photographs to celebrate their achievements. It was another fantastic evening which would not have been possible without the support of so many people in the Academy with special mention to Justin Lockwood, the Performing Arts Department, Scott Nesbitt, Support Staff and all others who supported the evening. We would like to thank you all for helping us make the show the spectacle it was and once again massive congratulations to all of our award winners.
