Mr David Grigg

Headteacher
David Grigg has been Headteacher at Lord Lawson of Beamish since April 2002. He was formerly Headteacher at Stanley School of Technology. Chair of the Regional Headteachers Steering Group of the
Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, and a member of the National Headteachers Steering Group. He is also a member of the National Council of the Association of School and College Leaders. In 2000, Mr Grigg was awarded the Leadership Trust Award for Outstanding Leadership as part of the National Teaching Awards.

Mr John Reach

Deputy Head Teacher - Inclusion & Support
John began working at LLOB in 1993. He started life here as a Head of House. His responsibilities now include inclusion and support.

Deputy Head Teacher - Teaching & Learning
Heather Raistrick has worked at Lord Lawson since 1986. She is presently Deputy Headteacher (previously Head of Geography).

Mr Iain Beveridge

Director of Services - Curriculum & Organisation.
Iain Beveridge is responsible for curriculum & organisation covering ICT, curriculum, KS5 and the day to day operational developments of the school.

Mr Steve Turner

Assistant Head Teacher - Inclusion & Support
Mr Turner has taught at Lord Lawson since 1974 and his current role as Assistant Head includes being part of the Inclusion and Support team. He is the designated teacher for Looked after Children, Alternative Curriculum co-ordinator; he also has responsibility for school ethos and student behaviour.

Assistant Head Teacher - Curriculum
Paula Trueman has worked at Lord Lawson for 20 years, her roles have included Head of the Mathematics Department, Head of Fleet House and now Assistant Headteacher.

 

 

 

 

 

Miss S. Nellist

Miss Sue Nellist

Assistant Head Teacher - Teaching & Learning
Sue is currently an Assistant Headteacher with responsibility within the Teaching and Learning Team. Her particular areas of interest are Assessment for Learning, Coaching and the use of data. She works helping classroom teachers and subject leaders develop their skills so that the learning of the students in the school is enhanced. Sue started working at Lord Lawson in 1994 as an NQT in the Geography department, since then she has done several different jobs within the school leading to her current position although she still thoroughly enjoys her geography teaching.

Assistant Head Teacher - Student Progress
Jim Diamond has worked at Lord Lawson since 1997. Previously Head of Fleet House, he is now an Assistant Head responsible for Inclusion and Support.

Assistant Head Teacher - Director Post 16
Nicholas has worked at Lord Lawson since 1996. Before joining the Senior Leadership Team, his previous role in school was Head of Sixth Form.

Mrs Denise Taylor

Assistant Head Teacher - Director of Specialism
Mrs Taylor began her career as an Art teacher at Pennywell School, Sunderland, from 1994-2006 where her roles included Deputy Head of House & Excellence in Cities Coordinator. She moved to Lord Lawson in 2006 as Director of Arts College, then to Assistant Head, Director of Specialisms, from September 2008. As well as continuing to teach Art, she currently oversees both Applied Learning and the Visual Arts specialism at Lord Lawson.
