Police are appealing for information after a burglary at a Scout hut in Gateshead.

The incident took place at the Scout headquarters building on Ruskin Road in Birtley.

Intruders forced entry to the building and caused substantial damage by smashing lights, breaking doors and ripping heaters off the wall.
This is the second time the building has been burgled after an incident in August this year where damage was caused.
Enquiries into the burglary are ongoing and we are now appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.

Neighbourhood Inspector Mick Robson said: “This building is at the heart of the community in Birtley and a very well attended club.
5th Birtley scout group provides exhilarating experiences to young people – through camps and competitions with other scout groups in our area. We need to raise money for these people who attend scouts so they can have their own facilities again.
