LORD LAWSONS YEAR 11 PRESENTATION
ASSEMBLY 2011
Once again we had the opportunity of presenting the year 11 students with their Progress Files and thanking them for the immense contribution they had made to the life of the school over the last five years. Parents, Governors, Tutors and Staff agreed that the assembly had been one of the most successful in recent years, not least because of the impeccable attitude of our students and the inspirational address given by our guest speaker Chris cook.
Chris retired from competitive swimming in 2009 after a career in which he was Double Commonwealth Champion, British Record holder, Commonwealth Record holder, World Medallist, European Medallist & Olympic Finalist. He encouraged the students to persevere in their studies and not to give up if occasional failures seemed to hinder progress. Chris illustrated his motivational talk with a PowerPoint presentation based on his dedication in training, being able to handle disappointments, and finally being successful in his career. Chris encouraged the students to follow their dreams and ambitions and not to give up at the first hurdle; a message they all saw as being essential to their future success.
We would like to wish all of our year 11 students every success in their forthcoming examinations and offer them a warm welcome back into the 6th form in September.
