Lord Lawson in Top Ten Schools in England for GCSEs 2010
For the second successive year, Lord Lawson of Beamish students have achieved record breaking results and the cohort of 2010 can now claim to have been the highest achieving ever in the school's history. Over 95% of students achieved five or more high grades. The average points score of 575 is the equivalent of more than 10 A grades per student! According to ‘The Independent’ newspaper, this places us in the top 10 comprehensive schools in the country in terms of overall achievement.
There were many outstanding individual performances, with 32 students achieving 5 or more As; 17 achieved 10 or more A grades and 5 achieved no fewer than 13 A grades.
As always, I am indebted to the staff of the school who work tirelessly for their students, but above all I wish to extend the heartiest of congratulations to the students and their families who have done so much to guarantee these outstanding results.
David Grigg
Headteacher, Lord Lawson of Beamish School
