Results Success
Both A level and GCSE students this year had record success rates. Eighty five percent of year 11 students gained five or more high grades at GCSE and 53% gained five or more with English and Maths. The average point score per student was 454, the equivalent of nearly 8 A grades. According to the guardian newspaper, this was among the top 150 scores in the country (there are over 3000 secondary schools in England).
There were many outstanding individual results, with 24 students achieving over 7 A grades, 16 had more than 10 As, 12 had more than twelve and three students achieved 13 A grades, including Rebecca Oldham 13 A* grades. Other high performing students were:

Over 92% of students achieved five GCSEs, with almost all achieving at least one pass. Overall these were the best GCSE results the school has ever had.
Not to be outdone, our A level students also achieved top marks. The average points score was 720(the equivalent of 3 grade Bs for each student), with a pass rate of 99%. Eight students gained straight A grades. Even more importantly, all students who applied to university gained a place, most of them at their first choice. Christine grant is off to Cambridge University where she will join her sister Elaine who went to Newnham College two years ago.
