Lord Lawson admitted to Schools’ Olympic Network for 2012
The school is already making preparations for the once-in-a-lifetime experience of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Games organisers LOCOG (London Organising Committee for the Olympic games) has recruited Lord Lawson to its prestigious network of schools following an application in October. This will bring a number of benefits, including being first in line for tickets for the games!
Lord Lawson has hosted two regional events run by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust and has eight young Olympic Leaders. These students are working on a range of esciting events leading up to the Olympics, including Activity Days and a visit to the Olympic Park.
A link has been formed with a school in London, Abbs Cross Arts College, and some students are already corresponding with a view to visiting the school later in the year.
Headteacher, David Grigg, is a member of the national Headteacher’s Steering Group for the Games and has visited the LOCOG headquarters and the Olympic Park.
