News Update
- Brookside joined in with the theme of the week during National Science week by encouraging our budding graphic designers to come up with a new monster for the ITV series Primeval..........More info
- Easter egg competition - students were asked to decorate a hard boiled egg as a teacher they liked (or loathed) and to bring it into school.
Devon Parkin was the clear winner with her egg design. It was just like Mrs Clayton from the Art Dept.Mrs Simpson was the
staff winner with her skiing Mr Green.
Both winners received a chocolate egg.
- Positive Postcards - Over 200 praise postcards have been sent out to students from BROOKSIDE HOUSE last term for
achieving 100% attendance,
excellent punctuality and immaculate uniform.
Well done to all who received one through the post.
- 9KBE - Mrs Bogle and her tutor class presented a cheque for £155.00 to the Specialist Baby Unit at the Freeman Hospital. The class raised the money by selling hot chocolate during lunchtimes. Georgina Hulland from 9 KBE went to the hospital to present the cheque. Again WELL DONE.
- 11RM - Mrs Murphy and her tutor class have presented The Multiple Sclerosis Society with a cheque for £149.00. Mr Livesy came into school personally to receive the cheque on behalf of the charity from Chealsea Monkhouse and Nmma Nairn. The class raised the money by doing a sponsored raffle and sponsored silence. WELL DONE
- 7MSN - The following students have been busy in Mrs Simpsons class
Emily Ramshaw received an achievement award for gymnastics from Metro Gym
Hannah Cassidy continues to shine in dancing. She came second this time around.
Neil Grant crossed Lake Derwent in a canoe.
Nathan Rowland and Jordan Clinch completed a 25 mile bike ride.
Ethan Thoburn played in a pool tournament. He finished in the top ten
- Whithaugh Park Trip. Brookside organised a weekend trip to Whithaugh Park.
75 eager children from all the houseblocks set off into the unknown followed by several eager staff. The activities included absailing, mountain biking, swimming, low and high ropes. Group 3 excelled in the high ropes. The typical English weather did not stop the children from enjoying the whole outdoor experience.
Bethany Lowden and Emily Ramshaw were two of the many students who joined in all of the activities on offer. The children and staff came back tired but happy.
