A Parenting Programme for Parents with Teenager’s

Move It 2008


Positive Parenting is approach to parenting which aims to assist with the healthy development and adjustment of teenagers. It is based on the use of good communication and problem solving to promote and maintain a family environment.

 

There are five key aspects to positive parenting with teenagers, which are:

Ensuring a safe, engaging environment.

Creating a positive learning environment.
Using assertive discipline.
Having realistic expectations.
Taking care of yourself as a parent.


Parents participating in group teen Triple P are provided with the specific information to promote their teenagers development and reduce problem behaviour,  and help their teenager’s to minimise or avoid risky situations with peers and in the community, which may compromise the teenager’s health or emotional wellbeing.

The sessions are:

Positive Parenting.
Encouraging Appropriate Behaviour.
Managing Problem Behaviour.
Dealing with Risky Behaviour.
Implementing Family Routines.
Programme Review and Close.

It is hoped a course will start at LORD LAWSON OF BEAMISH SCHOOL in February 2009, the course will be run by Helen Scott who works for Gateshead Health – Emotional well being.
