Lord Lawson Students Celebrate Exam Success
A Levels
The 2008 cohort achieved unparalleled success in this year’s A level results, achieving 714 points each on average – the best the school has ever registered. This equates to nearly three B grades per student. All 92 students who had provisional places will be able to go on to study at university, many going to top universities.
There were many outstanding individual performances, including Head Boy, Jack Jenkins who gained 4 A grades and will take up a place at Durham University. Also going to Durham is Adam Russ who gained 5 A grades. Frances Norton is going to Essex University having also gained straight A grades in her three A levels.
GCSE
Lord Lawson of Beamish School students are once again celebrating their examination successes after 76% achieved 5 or more high grades at GCSE. This continued the pattern of consistently high achievement at the school with nearly four out of five students achieving five high grades.
There were a number of outstanding individual performances by students. Neslisah Kilicak and Kate Richardson both gained no fewer than 12 A grades each; Neslisah gained 9 A* grades and Kate 2 A*s. Emma Bovingdon gained 10 A grades including 5 A*s. Scott Charlton gained 8 A grades and 2 Bs.
James Carr achieved 11 A grades, including 7 A* grades – an outstanding performance. More remarkable even than that was that James is one of a set of triplets and with his brothers John and Jacob the family gained 37 high passes between them.
Head Teacher, David Grigg, welcomed these outstanding results. “I am delighted for the young people who have worked extremely hard over a number of years to achieve these results. I would also like to thank their parents for the support they have given their children and the school, and, of course, the staff of the school without whom these results would have been impossible. It is further recognition that Lord Lawson of Beamish School, already with a national reputation for excellence and a High Performing SpecialistSchool, is among the very best in the country.”
