SiS Gold Award

Step Into Sport

I am delighted to share yet more good news at the start of the New Year.

You may already know that both Jonathan Appleby (213 hours) and Rebecca Lonsdale (600 hours) recently gaind GOLD Step Into Sport Awards for the massive amount of hours that they have committed to Community Volunteering.

They are now 2 of a group of only 4 students that have EVER gained a GOLD SiS Award from Gateshead. Rebecca is now our 'record holder', with a massive 600 hours that I doubt will ever be challenged! I will also be interested to find out (when the final figures are published) whether or not this is the largest total that has been achieved throughout the country.

Due to the massive commitment required to achieve this award, Kevin Hay of the School Sport Partnership will be profiling both Jonathan and Rebecca in the Local News (Gatesheadf Herald & Post).

This achievement is a great testament to Lord Lawson School and the PE Department for the work that has been put into programmes such as CSLA and SiS.

All SiS Award winners will be invited to the Young Sports Achievers Ceremony in the Summer Term, where they will be recognised for thier achievements.
