Oliver Opening Night
OPENING NIGHT : TUESDAY 27 MARCH 2007
The energy, enthusiasm and effort was clear for everyone to see on the opening night of our final production. The team spirit that was created by the senior chorus, who were outstanding in every single number, was obvious and a credit to everyone who has been involved in 'Oliver'.
Fagin could have performed on any London Stage and still receive a standing ovation - well done Jacob! Mr Bumble will be black and blue by the end of the week - I don't know who or where Widow Corney gets it from!! Lee was terrifyingly good at Bill Sykes and Dodger was certainly in character. Oliver sang beautifully throughout. The Sowerberry's were gruesome and the Brownlows wholesome!!
Nancy owned the stage magnificently, particularly in 'Oom Pa Pa' and 'Fine Life', her solo numbers were atmospheric and emotional. A fitting tribute to Michelle's commitment over the last seven years.
Well done to the whole cast who have worked tirelessly since September in perfecting every scene. My particular thanks go to Mrs D Taylor who probably spent as many hours painting the set as we did rehearsing. The rest of the production team are as professional and reliable as ever - Mrs Malloy, Ms King, Ms Brown, Mrs Jordan. Thankyou! Thanks to Gavin, Mr Green and Lee in the technical booth. The orchestra were superb and a credit to Mr Marletta.
My final comment has to go to the Year 13 Drama students for giving me so much pleasure over the last two years. Good luck in the next stage of your education. Lord Lawson will miss you but myself and the Performing Arts Department the most. Enjoy the rest of the show.
Thank you and well done.
