Future Film Makers
Sixth Form Media students have been chosen as the overall winners of the prestigious 'Futures in Motion' competition which has the backing of film director, Ridley Scott.
Together with their teacher, Mrs R. Endacott, they attended a workshop organised by First Light, (part of the UK Film Council) and funded by the National Lottery.During the workshop they had the opportunity to work alongside professionals in the industry and spent an enjoyable time filming and editing an advert for Lord Lawson school.
However, it was their original film pitch which impressed the judges and allowed them to win out of 170 schools and 43 youth groups across the North East. Pip Eldridge, Chief Executive of First Light, commented: 'Lord Lawson of Beamish came up with an idea which was extremely impressive. We're looking forward to working with them over the summer and seeing the final result in cinemas.' For the rest of the term, students will work with a film maker and creative director and produce their own short film which will be given a red carpet premiere screening in September and be shown across the UK.
