Angels Without Wings Film Premiere

Angels Without Wings Film Premiere

A level Media Studies students have had the chance of a life time as they recently attended the premiere of their short film.

'Angels without Wings' the film they produced and starred in, got its first public showing after winning the First Light film competition, 'Futures in Motion'. The project was part of a UK film Council initiative funded by the National Lottery and ten students spent an exciting, exhausting time at the end of the summer term filming and working with their teacher, Rosemary Endacott and film maker, Steve Salam of Dene Films, who recently won a personal award from the Royal Television Society for Best Director. Representatives from the UK Film Council, The National Lottery and various actors and other representatives from the Media world joined in the celebration. Music for the film was composed by A level students, Gary Wallace and Ben Clement and actress, Jill Halfpenny provided the voice-over.

We include an extract from Julia Hind's latest blog (see BBC 'Where I live' site) below:

"We were so excited about seeing our Futures in Motion film on the big screen. The premiere itself was amazing, I felt honoured to be part of such a fantastic experience. We had photographs taken as we stepped out of the limo and all night long, as speeches and presentations were made, and then there were more.. for newspapers and websites. I felt so proud to be part of the team. We had made this film and now all these people were here to see it.

Who ever said dreams can't come true? Mine just has, and I hope more continue to do so, as I dream of a career in the media industry. This has opened up so many doors to me and made me even more certain, I can do this! I really hope my adventure has inspired youngsters, who crave a career in this field. It may be hard work but the results are well worth it. As a great director once told me "we are just ordinary people with ordinary jobs". But it was an extraordinary experience for all of us!
