“Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty…” Bertrand Russell
Mathematics is a core subject and is compulsory for every student from Year 7 to Year 11. Mathematics is an essential part of life which helps us to create, plan, organise and solve problems. All students are encouraged to achieve their full potential at all levels. This occurs through the teaching students receive and the support offered by the department, which includes lunchtime catch up in Ma21 where student can get support with homework or with work they are finding difficult in class. There is a strong emphasis on problem-solving and developing mathematical fluency and mastery. This is achieved through a variety of activities including group work, rich tasks and challenge questions.
