Student Librarians

We displayed notices around school at the beginning of term asking for students to apply for the role of junior librarian.

A total of 22 students applied for the role and attended a meeting which was held in the LRC. I explained the role to the students and what was involved in the job. As we had quite a number of students, it was decided that perhaps they could team up with one or two friends and they could do their duty together. They told me their friendship groups and I then arranged a rota for them.

The students have now been working in the LRC since monday 12th October. They all gat a turn once every two weeks at lunchtime. At present they are on a trial basis until Christmas.

Their role involves:

Scanning and stamping books

Searching for books on the system when students enquire if we have a book in stock

Scanning books that have been returned

Putting returned books back on the shelves

Putting books to one side that may need repairing

Keeping the LRC tidy

The students are very keen to help and thoroughly enjoy being involved in the LRC.
