At Lord Lawson homework plays a vital role in developing independent learning skills and securing knowledge and understanding. Each department has outlined below the homework every student will receive over the coming term. The outlines give you information on what the homework is, when it will be set, when it is due in and a guide to how much time the homework should take. Your son/daughter should also have the homework recorded in their planner which you should sign each week.At present the outlines are for KS3 only. At KS4 there is a different approach to homework. It is set regularly by the individual teacher and tends to be focused around practice exam questions and coursework.
The homework set for KS3 has been designed to support our students learning and help them progress in the theory of music, the key skills and content required to do well at GCSE. Our departmental flight paths from year 7 to 9 link directly to GCSE assessment objectives which allow students to follow a personalised, varied and challenging music curriculum which prepares them fully for the qualification at Level 2. Students are also encouraged to attend extra rehearsal sessions in the department at lunch and break time to help develop their practical skills in preparation for their assessments. Students will complete a homework booklet – one task of which is to be completed fortnightly at Year 7 or monthly in Year 8 and 9. There is no requirement for specialist equipment as we encourage students to use their lunchtimes to prepare for practical work and assessments. At present all year groups have been set the same homework in preparation for the new specification. As students progress through the school the homework will change.
KS3 RE Homework Tasks
The homework set for KS3 has been designed in to support our students learning and help them progress in the key skills and content required to do well in GCSE RE. We will endeavour to set and collect home work at the same time for every class in KS3, however, it is important to note that in order to give our students an individualised experience, there may be variations in time scales. Furthermore, additional homework tasks may be set in order to ensure that every student and class is challenged, these will be dependent on the judgement of the class teacher and will be as well as the below tasks (not instead of). All tasks are designed to take approximately 30 minutes.
