Year 11 Results: 20 August 2020

We congratulate all our year 11 students on achieving their results today. These results are for GCSEs; technical and vocational results will follow. After the government’s abrupt change in policy, this year’s grades are based on assessments carried out in school. At Lord Lawson, the process for arriving at the centre assessment grades was extremely rigorous, so that the grades could be as fair and objective as possible.

There were some particularly outstanding achievements among this year’s students. Ellie Meehan gained unbeatable grade 9s in all ten of her subjects. Luke Mallon, Mia Scott, Joshua McIntyre and Jennifer Stead gained all grade 9s and grade 8s.  Alex Gibson, Sophie Ovington, Bobby Keers, Emily Maddick, Mina Naif, George Davidson, Kate Wills and Ellie Hayward each gained at least seven top grades 7-9 (equivalent to A grades or above in the old GCSEs).

Equally impressive were students who made amazing progress from their different starting points. Top students for progress include Amy Drummond, Joshua Henry, Lauren Wilson, Isabelle Garnham, Kirsty McCafferty, Nicole Reynolds, Chloe Revell and Gina Davidson.

Mr Fowler, Principal, said, “We are so proud of our year 11 students. This brave and resilient group of students suffered an incredibly disrupted year, deprived by coronavirus of the last four months of schooling. They have had to leave school without the traditional leavers’ assembly and prom. It is absolutely right that today they receive the results based on their centre assessment grades, the grades their teachers and school leaders know they have earned. I congratulate them and I would also like to thank their parents and all their teachers. We look forward to welcoming many of them back into our sixth form in September, and we wish them all the very best for the future.”
