Yr 12 students had tea and cake with Liz Twist ( Labour MP for Blaydon) on Friday in the Thought Foundation in Birtley. Year 12 students were invited to a roundtable discussion with Liz Twist MP as part of UK Parliament’s Vote100 programme.

The event was called EqualiTeas and forms part of a UK-wide celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Representation of the People Act 1928, in which all people were given the right to vote on an equal basis.As part of the celebrations Liz Twist MP is calling together young people from the sixth forms in the Blaydon constituency and other members from across civil society to discuss the issues and challenges around equalities today and in the future.

The students also had the opportunity to have a tour of the Aeronautical Engineering Departments hanger and a sit in one of the fighter jets their students learn to reassemble and fix.
