At LLOB we are keen to encourage pupils to get involved and support community and charity ventures and get involved in extra-curricular activities. Sixth form pupils play a leading role in performing Arts, drama, music and sport. This is also an opportunity by which pupils can give something back to school.
Community service

A) Charity Events
• Jeans for Genes Day- Great Lord Lawson Bake off and wearing denim
• Macmillan Coffee morning – we have been hosting coffee mornings for over 16 years and raised more than £15,000
• Children in Need- fancy dress, selling merchandise and collecting change
• Save the Children – Christmas jumper day appeal

B) pupil Support
• Sixth form pupils support staff in the classroom in their specialist subjects
• ASDAN programme. 1:1 reading support to help younger pupils to improve their reading
• Sixth Form pupils mentor younger pupils in Maths and Science

University Opportunities

• Attend Campus tours and Open days on Well Being Days to Newcastle University
• Visit Leeds University during ‘Life after Lord Lawson event’
• Encourage and support pupils to apply for Sutton Trust, NU entry and Partners programmes
• Residential visit to Cambridge University for Oxbridge pupils

Work experience
• All Yr12 pupils complete at least 1 week of work experience in Yr12-13 as part of their Study Programme
• Access to vocational experience in leading local and international companies
• Medical opportunities at Queen Elizabeth Hospital
• pupils interested in studying Primary education regularly support Feeder primary schools
