Birtley East Primary SchoolGEC

Birtley East Primary is one of five primaries in the area, with 216 students on its role at any one time. The age range is from 3-11 years within the primary and nursery school.

Birtley East is proud to be known as a safe and happy environment for our pupils. This is mainly due to the supportive and caring staff. There are close links to parents with children starting school for the first time, introducing them to the staff and the school is essential to making students feel comfortable in a new environment. At Birtley East School we encourage and push learners/students to their full potential from day one. A sharing and considerate attitude of the staff is shown through everyday teaching. We believe that as a school we can achieve the best for your child by close co-operation between home and school. Parents and the school will work together in partnership with your child to aid in developing caring and social attitudes through personnel achievement and promoting self esteem. Various educational trips and visits occur during a school year to assist in the children’s richness of the school life.

This includes school councils, literacy and numeracy classes, fun fit, cheerleading, football, netball, choir and dance. Other events during the school day can include wider opportunity music and enterprise week. Visits can include Segedunum, Alnwick Castle, Beamish, Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside, White House Farm and Dobbies Garden Centre. Specialist Coaches are also involved in the school including Athletics, Gym and Basketball with Newcastle Eagles with close links to Lord Lawson of Beamish School.
