General information

· Six lessons per week are timetabled

· The teachers on the course are currently Mr Diamond and Mr

· Redshaw (course Leader)

· The first three units make up the requirements for A/S level and will be completed by May.

· Fieldwork is an essential aspect of the course and at A Level will occur in the local area, generally taking place during school time.  Occasionally a trip abroad might be organised to enhance the curriculum.

· Students are expected to take a greater responsibility for their own work than in the main school, and also to participate fully in lessons.

· Assignments set may include large or small research projects (often in groups), reading, notes, calculations, diagram drawing, preparation of seminars and exam type essays.

· The transition from GCSE or GNVQ to A level is not an easy one—students need to do lots of extra reading and work very hard both on their own and under the teachers direction.

Good organisation is vital
