AS PE Course
A one year or two year course made up of 20% practical, 10% Coursework and 70% exam. You will learn about Anatomy and Physiology, Skill Acquisition and Socio Cultural Sports Studies. You need to be strong practically in one sport and/or be a referee or coach in one sport and will be expected to do mountain walking as your second sport. This course leads to the A2 PE course in Year 13.
BTEC National Sport
This is a two year vocational course that is the equivalent of one full A Level. Students will learn in a more vocational way and will be assessed continually using a variety of methods e.g. posters, presentations, group discussions, assignments, essays, demonstrations etc... You will learn about Health and Safety, The Body in Sport, Fitness and Fitness Testing, Outdoor and Adventurous Activities and Sports Coaching. This course is a follow on from BTEC First Sport.
BTEC First Certificate
This is a two year course equivalent to two GCSE's. Students will learn in a vocational way and be assessed continually using a variety of methods e.g. posters, presentations, group discussions, assignments, essays, demonstrations etc... You will learn about Health and Safety in Sport, Leadership in Sport and Practical Sport. This course leads to the BTEC National Sport course.
GCSE PE Course
This is a two year course made up of 50% Practical, 10% Coursework and 40% Exam. You will learn about Anatomy and Physiology, fitness and training, Diet, Health and Safety, Social and Cultural Factors affecting Performance and much more. This course leads to AS PE or BTEC National in Sport
