Consultation on Academy Status
In June 2010, the Government invited all schools who had been deemed by Ofsted to be either ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good with Outstanding features’ to apply for Academy freedoms. Since that time, the school’s Senior Leadership Team has been investigating what this would mean for Lord Lawson of Beamish School.
On 23 May 2011, the full Governing Body met to discuss the issue, resulting in a unanimous vote to consult with parents, students, staff and other key stakeholders. The consultation process is designed to allow interested parties to express a view on this matter, which we hope that you will do.
